I received a free floor lamp from OttLite in exchange for writing this review. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own.
**GIVEAWAY CLOSED**
And the winner is… Sandra Woerner!
My home was built in 1959. The only overhead lights exist in the dining room (chandelier), kitchen and bathrooms.
My sewing room has no overhead lighting, so all my lighting comes from lamps. I haven’t always sewn in the best light, I’ll admit. It’s been more like a “this light will do until I can do better” situation. This works fine during the day, but when the sun goes down, let the eyestrain begin.
When I turned 50 last year, so did my eyes. I’d never needed progressive lenses before, (a nice way of saying “bifocals”) but now I do. This has made lighting more of an issue, especially in the sewing room. I’m constantly trying to put my head in the right position so I can see what I’m doing. I didn’t know how good I had it when I was only nearsighted.
When OttLite gave me the opportunity to review one of their floor lamps, I was glad to do it. I’ve desired one of their lamps for years, but had grown comfortable with my “that’ll do” lighting. Their product was already familiar to me so I was glad to try it for myself.
They really got my attention because they cater to people who sew. They understand our lighting pain! Okay, that was a little dramatic, but you know what I mean.
The floor lamp they sent me, in my opinion, is perfect for those of us who sew. Not only is the lighting excellent, (3 settings people!), but the added creature comforts are very useful.
And I’m so excited because OttLite is giving away a floor lamp to one of my lucky readers! That means you! I’ll talk more about that later, so keep reading. Tee, hee, hee!
The OttLite Dual Shade LED Floor Lamp with USB Charging Station
You can find the lamp I’m reviewing on OttLite’s Web site here.
Dual Lighting
I love the dual LED lights. Two lights are definitely better than one. And they move, which is great because you can direct the light where you need it and cover a large area. Also, because they’re LED lights they’re less likely to overheat if you have to pull an all-nighter in your sewing room. Or am I the only one who does that?
The lamp is at its brightest when turned on. A gentle tap of the power button makes it dim, dimmer and dimmest. You can use as much or as little light as you need. This means on a cloudy day or when the sun’s going down your lamp won’t have to be on full blast.
The photos below were taken on cloudy days. This room is brightest before 12 noon on a sunny day. On cloudy days, it’s pretty dim. In the first photo, it’s about 6 in the evening and the OttLite lamp is on its highest setting. In the second photo, it’s about 2 in the afternoon and the light is on its lowest setting.
The neck of the floor lamp is also adjustable and very flexible. It moves up or down very easily. Between the adjustable neck and the moveable lights, I’m able to get my lighting just right for these 50 year old eyes of mine.
Adjustable Stand
There are no lamps in my house that will hold my pattern directions, smart phone, sewing magazine or tablet. The adjustable stand on OttLite’s floor lamp does.
When using the floor lamp next to your sewing machine, you can adjust the stand to your level to hold your sewing instructions.
Can I tell you how many times my sewing instructions have gotten lost under pattern pieces right next to my sewing machine? Too many times to count. With this OttLite floor lamp, my sewing instructions have their own space.
The adjustable stand makes following sewing instructions from your favorite magazine a piece of cake. Just use a paper clip to keep it open, fold the cover back and sit in on the stand.
And if you’re following a video tutorial on YouTube, you’ll have it right at your fingertips to press pause whenever you need to. There’s no need to make room for a smart phone or tablet next to your sewing machine. Your device will be out of harm’s way and within reach.
The adjustable stand can easily move up or down with just the turn of a screw. The arm that holds the stand and the stand itself also swivels left and right.
USB Charging Station
The USB charging station has to be one of my favorite features of OttLite’s floor lamp.
Remember I mentioned limited lighting in my house. Guess what else is limited? Electrical outlets! I have a power strip to house the many things I need to plug in at my desk alone.
When I’m using my phone, or the tablet I borrowed from my brother, on the lamp’s adjustable stand, I can conveniently recharge them without searching for an available outlet. The lamp doesn’t have to be on, just plugged in.
I don’t have to stop my sewing project because my phone or tablet is charging across the room.
I’ve noticed with some universal chargers, they either recharge your device slowly or once recharged your battery runs down fast. Not with the OttLite floor lamp. It charges fast and lasts just as long as my phone’s original charger.
What I thought I could use the floor lamp for, but won’t…
I thought I’d also be able to use the lamp at my cutting table, but I won’t. My sewing machine is on the opposite side of the room and the floor lamp base is heavy. While I can move it with some effort, for now it will stay next to my sewing machine where it’ll benefit me the most. On the bright side, it will never tip over. And it’s unlikely to be “borrowed” from my sewing room, like my scissors and straight pins. Just sayin’.
One more thing before I talk about the giveaway…
I’ve found one more use for my OttLite Floor Lamp.
My video tutorials!
I’m always thinking about how I can make videos better and faster. (The OttLite helps with the better, now if I could just find something to help with the faster.)
Lighting has always been a challenge because I don’t have a lot of space in my sewing room. And the fact that I’m not a professional photographer or videographer, not by a long shot. I’m always fighting with the lights to get the best angles and make sure it’s not too bright or too dim.
And I still hadn’t figured out how to maneuver 2 lights clamped to 2 tripods and a camera up close to my sewing machine.
The OttLite floor lamp with its adjustable everything will give me all the light I need to film tutorials at my sewing machine while taking far less space.
So not only do I benefit from this good lighting, if you watch my tutorials, you will too!
Overall, I’m very happy with the OttLite Dual Shade Floor Lamp. It’s a welcome addition to my sewing room!
I received a free floor lamp from OttLite in exchange for writing this review. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own.

Kathy Mogk says
I like the fact that it’s a LED light, and that it has a USP port and a spot to hold my phone for watching tutorials.
Paulette says
My poor dual purpose sewing space/kitchen table has an overhead light, but faces north and east so I get really harsh light for a few hours in the morning and then it’s just dim. The overhead light just throws shadows more than anything. Once the sun is far enough in the west, my eyes just give up and I can’t sew anymore. This would give me so much more mileage beyond daylight!
Necoh Mitchell says
This lamp looks wonderful! I too live in an older home, so I too understand the lighting dilemma. My overhead light in my sewing room is actually in the corner of the room. The actual CORNER! I’ll never understand why it was placed there! This Ott light has really great features. I think my favorite would be the dual lighting. I think that would help immensely with shadows!
Cleopatra Payne says
I like the USB feature. Cool light!
Cathy says
I would love to try an Ottlight! My 62 year old eyes are finding out they need more lights to see.
Missy Shelton says
I got my first Ott light after my grandmother passed away, I was given her sewing light by her children who didn’t know better. I was surprised they let me happy, but wasn’t about to correct their oversight in such an amazing product. The one reviewed here has some serious upgraded features, but I believe the one I think is the best is the stand for holding patterns or instructions. What a cool feature.
Trish Elliott says
OMG….the OTTLITE has come up the BEST ONE EVER now . Wow thanks for the presentation of this new light. I think all of us sewist, knows how important good lighting is to enhance our ability to make our sewing to perfection!!! I have the table top light with the magnifier but oh my, this floor lamp would be a beautiful addition to my sewing room and it has everything that I could put to good use!! Thanks for all your great advise and sewing skills you have shared and I have put to use to help my patterns fit my curves! Thanks again, for giving us the opportunity to enter your contest and share the gift of this AWESOME OTTLIGHT, that your received1
Have a Blesed day and be happy with your creations!!
Rhonda Grisham says
LOVE the USB charging!! Seems as though no matter where I am in my craft room…I never have an outlet near there. (how does that happen?) As I age, my eyes need all the help they can get. Thank you for the opportunity!
Ellen Slack says
I sew in my basement with fluorescent overhead lighting. Several years ago I bought a LED floor lamp, but it is nothing like this.
Love how it spreads the light. If I don’t win, I’ll pay for it.
Jennifer Eccles says
I love that the light splits up into different configurations and the USB port makes this an outstanding product!
Carol Witbeck says
Wow! I was impressed with just the lighting feature. Everything else was a bonus. I sew in a dark corner and have looked for something to help with the lighting. Thus looks like just what I need.
Pam Usher says
I have never had an Otter light, could not afford one, but looking at all its components I think what I would like and use the most is the dual LED lights that can split, aiming one on my sewing machine and one on my lap for cutting ends, ripping out seams or threading a needle. I would also use it while beading, I could put one light on the beads and there other on my project. I just think the Otter light would simply make life easier.
Joyce Seay says
I have been looking for the right lamp for my sewing room for a long time. The Ottlite is the perfect solution. My favorite feature is the charging station, though I love the adjustability. This would also be perfect by my chair that I sit in to crochet as I download a lot of my patterns. I could have them open for viewing right by my chair.
Rashonda Musawwir says
I really like the USB charging station and the stand feature.
Virginia Dunn says
My Ottlite floor light was knocked over and broken (adorable great grand kids playing tripped over the base) sooo need a new one and this has sooo many wonderful features… I would be thrilled to win!! I think the USB port and and being able to adjust it in so many ways was terrific!!! Can’t wait to see who wins this gem!!!
Michelle D. Simmons says
The stand is a great feature. I would use it to hold up my pattern directors. I also love the charging ports on the light. I would love to have this in my sewing room because my room doesn’t have enough light either.
Deno Gomes says
I love this light! The best feature for me is the amount of light it produces. It will give me more sewing time, since eye fatigue is what makes me stop earlier than i want to.
Whoever wins this will be thrilled. I know I will be if I am the lucky one.
Thanks for all you do for your sewing family.
Sharon Henley says
Wow! This LED OttLight has everything I need! But my favorite feature is the dual lights. My close up vision isn’t what it used to be, and the lighting in my home is a challenge for detail work. This would allow me to place the lighting at two different angles exactly where I need it!
Pam says
Thanks for the great review Katrina! I’ve seen Ott lights before, but I never knew that this one existed! What wonderful features! I live in an old house without good lighting too, so I would love one of these for my sewing room. Thanks for the great giveaway, and thanks for your inspiring blog!
Denise Sharper says
I like the idea of the USB port for charging my phone as well as the stability of the lamp and its brightness.
Jean M Limb says
The split lights
Tammy Randall says
The book/tablet stand and charging port are genius!
Teresa Knittingdancer says
I like that it has dual arms to adjust the light and that it won’t tip over.
Virginia Barnstorff says
Wow! The dual LED lights are awesome!
Peggy Wilde says
I love how it has the two lights that you can split. My sewing room is so dark in the evening that this would be awesome to have.
Joyce Maggard says
WOW! The dual shades would come in so handy! Rarely does anyone work on a piece that couldn’t be helped by an additional directional light! Would use this daily!
Louisa Halmi says
I really like the fact that you can separate the light head so that there is less shadowing on your work. I also find as I get older my eyes need the additional light to see my work. Thank you for the work you to make sewing for larger sizes much easier.
Martha Arzu-McIntosh says
This lamp is everything!!!! I am in love with the adjustable stand as my sewing space is tiny and my patterns get lost in the shuffle often! This would be a great help!
Allison says
Love the place to put instructions while crafting idea! So practical and I can recharge my ipad while working – fantastic idea! Thanks for the chance!
Jeanette Mitchell says
Best feature for me is the adjustable stand and the USB charger. To me that makes it worth buying. The lighting covers a wide area that will be great for my sewing space that includes several tables and sewing machines. I could really use this and praying I win it. Thanks Katrina!
Shanail R says
Oh my goodness! I really need light in my sewing area bad! I use the best lighting in my home, which is the hallway light or natural light from outside. My sewing space is small but effective to what I’m sewing. However, I do not have great lighting at night. My favorite features on the Ott Lite is the change in lighting, being able to move the light head itself, and especially the USB port. I really need a lamp for my room, and this would be an awesome opportunity.
Nancy Madrick says
All great features! That’s why we all want one right?? But definitely need the light the lamp provides.
Dawn Smith says
I love the fact that the light has a dimmer. Since going through cancer treatments, my eyesight has changed drastically and having the option to change the lighting is truly a plus!!
Amy Deak says
WOW! A great product with so many features ~ how can I pick a favorite?? LOL My main thing with sewing & any other creating I do is getting good lighting, so I’d have to pick the dual shades *and* the fact that they can be moved in different directions as my favorite feature.
DR says
I like the fact that the light has a place for our instructions while e sew.
Dora says
I like the fact that the light is adjustable and that there is a place for instructions when we are sewing!
Billye Watson says
Wow! Choose only one? The dual lighting feature for I’m always maneuvering my head to get the best light on my work, yet out of my eyes!
Corinne says
Wow! This is a home run! Lighting that doesn’t take up table space and yet is adjustable and bright, a place to charge my tablet, and one of the smartest ideas is a place to hold said tablet to watch videos and hold pattern instructions/books/stitch patterns!
Thank you for this awesome opportunity.
Corinne
Sandra Hunt says
I too have very limited lighting in my sewing room. This OttLight seem to have everything that a sewist would need. I simply love the charging station a place to place your tablet if you are following something online. I did not realize that you needed so much more lighting for sewing. However this Ottlight!!! is just what the doctor ordered, or just what I want and need.
Gabriela says
From the description, I founf this lamp great! The USB charging feature sounds very useful, but the idea of having a very good source of light to sew no matter the time or the weather! Happy mother day and lets sew!
Ginnny says
Hi Katrina,
That’s my house you described! Small Cape built in 1950 with few ceiling lights and even less electrical outlets.
I like every feature of the OttLite floor lamp! My sewing area is part of my living room (area was a small bedroom that was opened up before I bought the house). I have extension cords all over for lighting, as well. I am putting together a desk/sewing table and use one of the built-in cabinets with bookshelves for my sewing stash. The other cabinet is for laptop, printer, etc. My desk will be dual purpose office/sewing space.
The US port and stand are great for cell phone and instructions. I like that the lamp has dual lights to aim in different areas. At least in my small area I won’t have to try and move it around.
Also, I’ll be 50 in a few months and just got prescription glasses for the first time……..goota luv the aging process!
Okay, I am done babbling. Thank you for all the resources and sewing info.
Hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day.
Connie Northrop says
This is great. It would be perfect in my little sewing corner, which is badly lit at night.
Denise Stannis says
I love the idea of being able to adjust the dual lights to your own favored position (USB charging station is cool, too!)
Maxine Dobbins says
OMG the ability to place my tablet or my instructions on the stand blows my mind that is the feature I love the most
Sherri says
Love, love, Ottlites. I have one that is a desk top that I take with me sometimes to sewing classes. My older eyes really appreciate the led lighting. The feature I like the best is the stand. It could hold an instruction book or an IPad, how nice it would be to have these things at your fingertips and not taking up precious real estate on your desk top!
Pam says
I’m torn between the dual lights and the easel type stand as being my favorite feature. I DEFINITELY need more light now that I have (ahem) mature eyesight. Thanks for the giveaway.
Sarah Galletly says
The Ottlite has many great features it is had to pick just one. My sewing area is in the basement which has limited lighting and power outlets. The adjustable light feature looks amazing! This would be the perfect light for my cramped not-so-perfect sewing area. I love your website and enjoy getting your newsletter emails too! Thank you for the opportunity to win this wonderful light.
Pam says
As a sewiest with 60 year old eyes, I see several things I like. 1. The bright lights, can’t ever get enough light, especially sewing on dark colors. 2. Adjustable lights 3. Adjustable stand to hold my pattern instructions. Thank you for the review.
Sandra Woerner says
Thank you so much for your review Katrina, I like you have become older and lighting has a MAJOR effect on being able to see when doing intricate work like sewing. I had a lamp that worked till the bulb burned out and when I went to replace it somehow the wiring in the stand must have snapped because it no longer worked. Let me tell you, I didn’t realize how much I depended on it till it was gone. I have looked at others but I am hesitant to purchase for the same reason. Winning this would be a great way to make sure I don’t waste time in buying something that won’t work. You have already verified that it does.
Mary Ann Ackerman says
I love the Ott lite I purchased years ago and have been considering a new one and this model is definitely a winner. Love how I would be able to view something from my iPad while actually sewing!
Marcia Reeves says
How exciting!! I used to work at a national chain fabric store that carried OttLites, but could not afford to purchase one. I am really please to hear about the 2 different light setting and the adjustable dual lights. That would really brighten up my sewing corner and then I would not have to sew on the dinning table after the sun has gone down.
Ruth L says
What an amazing lamp!!! This could make such a difference for me – I struggle with my eyes becoming fatigued. I love to sew and having to take a break in the middle of a project due to eye strain can be frustrating, especially when nearing the completion of a garment! Thanks for highlighting this great lamp!
Cassandra Woodhouse says
I have one Ottlite floor lamp that I use for reading and another desk model that is helpful all around the house when extra lighting is needed. This new floor lamp would be perfect for a sewing room since the dual light can light both sides of the sewing machine and table. So often a sewing lamp nicely highlights one area like the presser foot but leaves the other controls in the shadows. The dual light looks like it would solve this problem.
Felicia Epps says
I live on the bottom floor of an apartment building with balconies shading alot of my natural light, so the dimming feature of the dual light would be perfect for me. Especially since I discovered my love of sewing at the age of, let’s just say north of 48. However; my favorite features are the adjustable stand and the USB port. I watch a LOT of sewing tutorials and go back and review while I’m sewing. This would be perfect! This lamp was designed with people like me in mind….would it help my odds if I said pretty please and thank you?!! Lol
Kim L. says
I think the dual moveable lights are ingenious but my eyes really lit up for that shelf! My old house is similar to yours, and my eyes older … so an Ottlite would be very welcome 🙂
Rene says
I enjoy your posts. This lamp looks terrific! I like the dual shades and the multiple light levels is terrific too. Then a stand too? Ott Light has a home run with this one!
Katrina says
I’m really enjoying all of your comments and I’ve read every one so far. I’m so glad you all love this lamp as much as I do. They really did think of everything.
I won’t be able to respond to every comment but I will jump in from time to time just to let you all know I’m reading them. Good luck to everyone!
Elizabeth Davenport says
I have a couple of Ottlites and love them! I, too, have eyes which are aging. I can definitely see how this lite would really enhance my sewing experience with the dual shades and the USB charging station.
Trish Bowers says
I love the USB charging port.
linda says
Wow! What a light. I like the dual lighting, the charging port…I need a great light as my eyes are not what they used to be.
Carla says
I love the duel lights that you can adjust to different angles and surfaces that need extra light.
Cathy Bewley says
I love the Ott Light that I have now as my eyes seem to get tired faster than they used when I don’t use my light. I like the fact that the light makes everything look like I’m looking at it outside.
Connie F says
Ohh the adjustable light! I cut and sew quite a bit on quilt pieces in my bed on a tiny Janome with a lap tray (due to a disability) and this lamp might just save my marriage! (I kid…kind of). I have a full size machine but always end up sewing by our tiny nightstand lamp. The room light causes glare on the TV for my husband. Oh the humanity! Good luck everyone! I know we could all use one of these fancy new fangled lamps! lol
Lisa says
Thank you for sharing such a thorough review of the Ottlight floor lamp. I’ve never seen it before I saw it on your blog. It looks perfect for the sewist and hobbyist. I hope the lamp goes to someone who can really use it and enjoy it.
Kathleen says
I love the OTT KIGHT because they are ajustable and are no reflective. I just found out I have cataracts but they are not “ripe enough” for surgery….I have three lights at home, one for sewing machine, one for serger and the floor lamp for room light. I think my favorite parts of the new light are the the table, USB port all included in one of the best lights made today!
Cheryl says
I really like the small footprint and especially the dual lights that are adjustable!! Would love to have one. Love your site!
Roslyn says
I love that a tablet can be viewed and charged right there on the light.
Curtis Hazell says
Adjustable! Portable! Bright light! An OttLight sounds just right for my eyes.
Lauren says
I love that this light had dual bulbs and the USB port! I’m very new at sewing, therefore I am constantly looking at videos and reading posts — that’s how I found you! So these features would be so helpful!
Thank you!
Jane Seidl says
I have inadequate lighting in my sewing room and would absolutely love and Ott lite like this. I love everything about it- the adjustable lighting, the two adjustable lights, the stand the USB port! Obviously a very well thought out design!!
Sharon says
Pick me! I sure could use a light like this.
Mary Jackson says
I like the dual lights. I have a Ott desk model, but that is not as flexible. My second serger needs a better light – and this light would be just perfect!
Liz Fergus says
The fantastic lights that you can adjust as you please! How great is that??? These would be such a help to my eyes! I can’t tell you how wonderful these would be for me — plus all the other lovely assets on this lamp. Here’s to you for making this offer possible…
Judith in Tinton Falls says
I have two adjustable lights in my sewing room, but they sit on my desk and prevent fabric from feeding smoothly. What I like best about this floor lamp is the small footprint that allows me to snug it up to my table or put it between two table and split the head to light both areas. I hope I win.
Chuong says
I like sewing ; also I like to learn more from you. Thank you!
Chuong
Karen H. says
I would really love to have the ott light. I have cataracts and it is very hard to see how to cut, press and sew in my small room. I think the different levels of lighting would be so awesome. Thank you so much for this great give away!
Vicky Douglas says
This light is awesome. I really like the dual light and everything about the light. I do understand the vision problems that come with age. I have lamps all over my sewing room but only one table lamp is the true light of the Ottlite. I could really use a light like this one. Thank you for the opportunity to enter.
Julie Ann says
It would be more like what don’t I like! Nothing! Since you are making me choose, it’s the dual lights! I am fortunate enough to have a sewing room, and one can never have enough lights!
Tricie says
OttLite is definitely quality…no argument there!!! So like you Katrina, I’ve never been able to afford such a nice light like this one. But when I really want to get a project done, I pack up & I visit my friend’s house who owns 3 OttLites. (hee hee…I don’t think she knows) I was so excited to see your email in my inbox…like really!! I love everything about this OttLite especially the dual lighting, stand AND USB! WOW! This is totally the complete package. Currently the lights in my sewing area (living room) are ALL insufficient at 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon!! Since I was diagnosed with the “G” word (you know…glaucoma @ 52) 2 years ago it’s not fun sewing anymore because of my eyes and lighting situation. Thanks for sharing the OttLite post. “Happy Mother’s Day” ladies!!!!
Brenda says
My sewing work space is in an enclosed, converted carport. Limited lighting and outlets too! Ugh!
Better lighting and tablet shelf would be sooo awesome! My ‘maturing’ eyesight needs more and more light. And, that charging station would be a Godsend…I can hear the angels singing already! LOL
Judy says
Hi,
Enjoy your site. I think I would enjoy the dual lights and the platform. I don’t have good lighting and this would be great in the summer because my overhead lighting makes the room really hot.
Rachel Swift says
I LOVE the quality of light that Ott Lights give. So gentle. And so not-distorting!
Simone says
The light and the USB port! The adjustable light would be amazing in my sewing area and I always use my phone or tablet when I am sewing. Thank you for the review, very exciting!
Rebecca Ronayne says
The lights!! My house also only has overhead lighting in the kitchen and dining room, and they are too tiny for my sewing table and sewing machine. I use about three lamps around my sewing machine when I want to sew. My poor 67 year old eyes sure take a beating. But when you got to sew, you sew! If I had that wonderful lamp maybe I could see what a nice job I was doing using Katrina’s sewing tips!
Karen Christensen says
I like the fact that it is adjustable and allows you to put the light where you need it. I have cataracts that the doctor says aren’t ready to come off yet so I really struggle to see while sewing. This light would be a great addition to my sewing area. Thanks for sponsoring the giveaway
Mildred Riddle says
My sewing room is in the basement. No windows, only a ceiling light and a desk lamp. Everything looks like it has a yellow tint. Ottlight would be a dream come true. Plus a place to hold the sewing directions? Yay!!!
Nicole C says
My favorite part of the Ottlite lamp is the adjustable stand. It will make it easier to read and follow sewing instructions as well as watching sewing tutorial videos. I also love the fact that the lights are adjustable. It will allow me to get the lighting right while sewing.
Carla Fredd says
Now that’s the lamp that I need. My house was built in 1962 and I usually sew in the evenings. I have a lamp on my sewing table but the lamp with the stand and charing station is exactly what I need. Thank you for the review
diane says
I think my favorite thing about the Ott light is that it is adjustable
Gloria says
I love the lights. Vision is a problem and the ability to put the light where I want it is marvelous.
Kira says
I really like the various lighting settings. I find it very convenient that it comes with a charging station too. It has so many purposes!
Brenda Pletcher says
I love the ability to split the light. I often see while my embroidery machine is running and I have to swivel my lamp 90 degrees.
JOHANNA says
My favorite feature is the dual lights. I would be able to sew at night. I’ve had to move my sewing to the sweat shop( my garage) and sewing at night is near impossible.
Karey says
I love that the lamp comes with the ability to charge USB devices.
Oke Kofo says
I like it cause it’s adjustable and if charged it doesn’t run down fast ,i also like the USB port on it
Bev N. says
This is a fantastic giveaway. I’d love to have this lamp with the outstanding features of dual lights, USB charging station, and a place for tablet or sewing directions!
Laura Hoffman says
Love the dual arms, flex neck, and the shelf! They thought of everything!
Connie Kline says
What a great giveaway! My favorite is the adjustable light feature. I sew, knit, crochet, and cross stitch – and there is no one place that is just right for seeing my work no matter which craft I’m doing. This lamp would free me to work in any of my favorite spots no matter which needles I’m using.
Barbara says
Oops. My first commend had too many listed features. My favorite feature are the USB chargers.
Thank you.
Shirley McFarland says
I am so excited about this giveaway!!! The lamp is just perfect! I’m thinking one for my sewing room and one for near my chair in the family room where I crochet, etc. I love the way the lights can be turned to different directions! Thank you so much for this giveaway!
Barbara says
Thank you for the opportunity to win this lamp! The dual lamps are a wonderful feature. I love the stand feature, too, for holding pattern instructions (and my mobile phone/tablet). In addition, the USB chargers are a GREAT idea. I would plug in my tablet and watch shows or listen to podcasts.
Kasey Killmeyer says
I a man not sure I can pick just one features. But I really like that it has a USB port as well as the stand and adjustability and of course that it would brighten my space.
Kasey Killmeyer says
I am not sure….. is what it is supposed to say…
Nina says
This lamp have all the features I need and more!

There are a number of special benefits to this Ott Lamp, but my favorite is the dual lamps that can be moved and the brightness adjusted. So often, trying to get the light right when working around a sewing machine is difficult, and it’s great to be able to hit that problem from different angles. Also, it’s great to be able to dim the lights or brighten them so you aren’t working in either too dim a light to see, or too bright a light causing glare.

The feature I liked the best of the Ottlite are the dual arms and the ability the bend them to shine where you need the light . Thanks for having the give away.

I love that this lamp actually looks solid, unlike a lot of floor lamps. The stand could also be really useful for just what you said: holding pattern instructions or a tablet.

I love the charging station and stand for a tablet or smart phone. Perfect for following online tutes.

I love the duel lights, such a great feature for working with different size projects

I love the dual adjustable lighting!

Wow, that lamp has some interesting features. One use I thought of immediately when I saw it was how it reminded me of a music stand. I used to play violin and there were times it would have been nice to have a bright light when practicing. Today, I agree that it would be awesome to use the stand to watch Craftsy classes and other videos while on the sewing machine.
I’ve replaced most of the regular bulbs with LEDs in my vintage machines and appreciate the amazing difference good lighting can make.

Love the dual lights. Great usage for a small sewing space. Also the stand is a needed bonus!

My favorite feature of this Ottlite lamp is the dual lighting. It would be great to be able to focus light where I need it. I love the other features, too. This lamp has it all!

I love the adjustable lamp phases. Sometimes times things are in the way of seeing the sewing machine. This solves that problem. How generous that your sponsor is giving one away. I am over 50 and have needed this light a long time ago. Am teaching now and need a light to actually see what I am supposed to teach the student. My students have been great about helping the teacher. Glad you shared more about yourself. You have accomplished more than I ever thought to do with media. Keep it up!

Hi Katrina!
So excited to be participating in your first giveaway! This is an AWESOME prize! Wow, the person who designed this light really thought about all the features to make is super functional for crafters. I think the most unique is the USB charging port. However, the feature I like the most is the dual movable bulbs. That’s inventive.
I consider myself a sewing beginner, and taught myself with blog tutorials and videos from various places. And I’ve come to understand that lighting is one of the most important tools for sewing (plus a good pair of reading glasses!) and I have a little flip open OTT light next to my machine. I also have a handheld OTT flashlight in my van, but my kids mostly use that one. But this light would swiftly become my best friend!

I also have 50+ eyes. I have the little flip one that clips to you shit; it makes fine hand sewing possible. The ability to shine the light where ever you wish with the dual shade is exciting. And I can only begin to imagine how the stand – charging station would make my life easier.
Tina Upchurch-Williams says
I like the fact that it has a USB charging station. I can use my Ipad or my phone to look up resources while I am still working on a project. I also love the adjustable stand and the ability to separate the light fixtures. I have a small Ottlite as well that I keep on my desk. I love this product. It is the BEST THING EVER!!! for sewing.

I’m a fiber artist and you’ll often find me painting silk and other fabrics. I work in my basement and currently use a table lamp for lighting and prop my ipad (with a still life picture on it) in the corner of my table to paint. It works, but it’s not ideal. The adjustable stand would be perfect for holding my ipad while the dual light could better illuminate my work space. I’m in love with this lamp!
Susan says
Oh my gosh. This would be a Godsend! My eyes are rapidly getting worse the older I get and I’d like to be able to sew, crochet or whatever else without straining. I have overhead white lighting but it’s not quite enough.
Cheryl says
the light itself will help in the dark side of my sewing room. i also really like that there’s a place to put patterns or books, etc. the floor lamp won’t be taking up space on my sewing tables.

I love your site. It’s been a long time since I could actually sew. But I am trying to get a space carved out before I am naked. My good ole Bernina 830 is living in the bathroom. But it’s all good, I spend a lot of time in ther anyway.
Just made curtains and am working on a bedskirt now. I may not be making clothes yet but I read everything.
I have so far to go. I have three whole dresses left. All mended, frayed and the good cotton has turned into soft as silk they have been washed so many times. You really get attached to something you have used so long.
Been wearing the same pattern more or less for forty years, it’s time for a change. Yoke with front and back gathered to it…the only changes in all these years have been sleeves and pockets. I usually make four or five at a time…wear them until they are literally falling off…then try to save the rags to use for “stuff”…
I am so out of shape it’s going to be a challenge. I need to sew some of my stash. Thank goodness I have some nice pieces in a stash, the price of good cotton now.
I am in the same boat you are..I have more extension cords than wall plugs. I really really NEED that Ottlite. I am 81 and live on $754 a month..no way can I ever afford one…Keeping my fingers crossed.. Thanks for your site..and thanks for the chance to win something…it would be a brand new experience. Out of that $754 Spectrum has increased my link to the outside world from $100 a month to $125. I cry when I think of Duke Power and groceries.

My favorite part is the dual LED adjustable lights. My house is a dungeon! It is so dark. Sometimes I just feel I can do anything inside.
It is a wonderful
Thought to be able
To Angels those wonderful lights exactly where you would need them!
Melody Lema says
Oh, how can I count the ways, I love this.
The swinging, adjustable lights, to see the fine stitches on my project
The USB port, allows for me to use my tablet to see my Katrina Kay lessons as I sew
The adjustablle stand, to raise, to lower, to my content, and
Last, but not least, a stand to hold my instructions to use below!
This is how I love this Ott light, not to forget the quality of anything made by this company. I would say, the adjustable lights are my fave. My sewing cave, is small, but delightful. Mainly because it is all mine! But lighting is an issue as my eyes get older, the room does not have a lot of light, so a light that is so versatile would be a Godsend.
Thank you for the contest

It’s really tough to pick just one feature that’s my favorite. The charging station would make my life so much easier. The maneuverable lights would be a fantastic way to light both my sewing machine and serger. The more that I think about it, the more ideas I’m getting for my sewing space!
Cheryl Hillman says
I sew in my living room, next to 3 floor to ceiling windows. Lighting is great in the daytime, but I frequently only have time to sew in the evening. I think the double lights which can be repositioned separately would be most helpful.

I NEED this lamp. I sew, and I also bead; sometimes in front of the TV so that I’m not holed up in my craft room away from my husband for hours. I’ve tried clip on lamps and portable lamps that sit on my worktable. They take up space and cast shadows that makes seeing small beads and hand stitching difficult. This lamp could sit right next to my chair and hold directions for my projects without taking up space on my work table. Seriously, I NEED this lamp.

The dual lighting will really help my eyes. I have a tall commercial embroidery machine and I don’ t use it like I used to, because it now being in my home, my lighting is poorer, as are my diabetic eyes
Valerie says
Looks like they thought of everything in this lamp! While I like the USB port, the best feature for me would be that the individual lights are position adjustable. So often I need light coming in from two different directions to truly light up an area. The adjustable brightness is great too. If I don’t win, looks like it may go on my Christmas (or birthday) wish list. Got to have one!
Carmen Rudnick says
My favorite part is definitely the charging station!! I don’t know how many times I’m sewing a new project and I am watching a tutorial and my phone dies or I have to frantically search for my charger!
Diana says
I love the USB charging feature! I usually listen to podcasts while sewing, and this would help my phone stay charged!
Winona Smith says
I love the dual lighting and the stand. My sewing room is in the dungeon (basement) so I’m always looking for ways to get better lighting.
Cheryl McCaffery says
I don’t think I can pick just one. I could really use the light since my eyes have been getting worse and I love the adjustable shelf. I could watch video instructions and not worry about the battery running down with the usb charging port. I love it! Great product review!
Kori M. says
Oh I love Ottlites! I have a little one for beading but this looks awesome! My favorite feature is the adjustable stand so I could have it over my sewing machine or bring it down closer to me if I’m hand sewing on the couch. Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

My eyes seem to be older than the rest of me! I have 3-4 lights at my sewing machine, and would love to reduce that to one LED OttLight!
