Well, this is the 3rd and final video where I take you inside the patternmaking software I use to make patterns. If you haven’t seen Part 1 or Part 2, be sure to view them now.
In this video I show you how to add seam allowances, text and a waistband to your a-line skirt pattern. I still need to add the grainline on the skirt back and the center back extenion on one side of the waistband, but this video was intended to be more of a demo of the software.
I also take you inside the yardage calculator to show how you can get an estimate of how much fabric you’ll need for your pattern by laying out the pattern pieces (as shown in the photo above-click the image to enlarge). You tell the software how wide your fabric is and whether you’ll be cutting it folded or open. This is useful whether you purchase fabric in the store or online.
Leave a comment below if you have any questions or if these videos have been helpful to you. I would love to hear from you.

Thank you for the PMB 5 lessons. I own version 4 of the software. I am very hard to fit. Does this program require a lot of adjusting to get a good fit?
Katrina says
Lavonne, I wouldn’t say a lot of adjusting, but you may have to make some minor adjustments. The software gave me the best fit out of all the other methods I’ve used.
The biggest adjustment I had to make was because I measured something incorrectly. And the .PDF instructions that come with the software also give a how-to for some alterations.
